Kandis Hutcherson is a writer, director and overall golden girl. She is an emerging filmmaker specializing in screenwriting and directing. She began her filmmaking career at Temple University where she is earning her MFA. Kandis has since developed a number of Fiction and Documentary projects, her thesis film Nebula is in post-production. Her style is a mixture of realism and surrealism, often blurring the lines between illusion and reality. Before her tenure at Temple, Kandis earned her B.A. in Creative Writing at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. Since joining the Film and Media Arts program, Kandis has immersed herself in community organizations, blending art with social activism. Although her primary interest is fiction, she views documentary as a necessary tool for increasing awareness of marginalized communities and preserving the history of our culture.
